For this situation, the client needs to have a computer available near a reception desk so that customers can view photographs and information online about the chairs that the client sells. The client and the designer have earlier agreed that the computer will be on a counter surrounded by a low wall that is capped with a durable material. In my drawings, I detailed the low partition that will later be used to surround and support a built-in countertop, as well as other partitions in the space.
Working with the same chair showroom, this situation requires a partition type that allows the ceiling grid to have a different layout on each side. However, the drywall does not need to extend all the way to the structure above. Therefore, the partition must extend slightly above the acoustical ceiling. In my drawings, I included a partition detail that stubs 4 in (100 mm) above the ceiling line and displayed the condition of the floor.
